As they open up the dreadful tricks hidden within, they recognize they are not just stuck, they are being sought after.

The Chart is the newest scary movie holding the name of Alexandre Aja (Hills Have Sight, Horns) – though the popular scary film maker is only in a generating potential now. Seated in the director’s seat is Grégory Levasseur, who has been the author of many of Aja’s movies, such as Great Stress, The Mountains Have Sight and Showcases. It’s of course Levasseur’s directorial first appearance, but the encounter in the category is definitely there, and with Aja throwing in, objectives should be set greater than most other newcomer scary tasks.

However, as they start discovering the labyrinthine framework, they easily understand that what they are actually status in is a kind of jail – and what that jail is maintaining stuck within is something more nightmarish than any of the travellers could’ve thought. The evils of historical The red sea are not deceased yet.

For those who may have been puzzled by the mostly uncertain risks presented in the trailer; if you stop at the (2:16) indicate, you’ll observe that last series where one of the travellers is drawn down into the absolute depths by a strange adversary. A stop and some picture whitening expose that the animals glimpsed throughout the movie trailer are actually dog-like humanoids which look like the The red sea god, Anubis. Anubis is of course associated with loss of life and the afterlife – and ushering spirits into said afterlife – which has apparent effects for a scary movie.

{adinserter 4} The throw is a number of “seen ‘em somewhere” kinds, such as Real Blood vessels alums Denis O’Hare (Russell) and Ashley Hinshaw (Bridgette), along with Wayne Buckley (The Inbetweeners) and Christa Nicola (Home and Away).

All in all, it doesn’t look like there’s anything really new or innovative about this scary movie – other than holding the titles of two people (Aja and Levasseur) who have a strong scary reputation behind them. At least Anubis monsters, pyramids and The red sea aren’t zombies, skeletons, spirits, devils – in other terms, it’s a different kind of scary.
